Pontian MP Ahmad Maslan (above) has failed in his bid to strike out his RM2 million money laundering and false statement charges. The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court denied his striking out bid during open court proceedings this morning. On Jan 21 before a lower court, Maslan claimed trial to a money laundering charge of failing to declare to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) RM2 million which he allegedly received from former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak. The Umno secretary-general also claimed trial to a second charge of giving a false statement to the MACC. On Feb 21, he filed the striking out application. During the brief oral ruling this morning, judge Azman Ahmad said the striking out application by the accused was premature at this part of the proceedings.
