Police have recorded statements from six witnesses in regard to sexual assault claims involving a prominent NGO activist. This followed a statement recorded from the activist on July 9 before he was released on police bail on the same day. The activist, in his 50s, was said to have "groped and kissed" a 27-year-old trainee doctor last November. Police criminal investigation department chief Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said they were in the midst of completing the investigation. "We have recorded statements from six witnesses in the case. "We are now in the midst of completing the investigation before referring it to the deputy public prosecutor," Nik told Malaysiakini.
