When garbage trucks come to residential areas, it is expected to collect and dispose of trash. Ironically in Ipoh, while garbage is being collected it leaves behind a watery trail of stench. When I was at a hotel in Ipoh I witnessed noxious water leakage from the garbage truck as it was lifting rubbish bins from the basement. The stench that came from the site was disgusting. When I asked one of the garbage collectors why liquid was flowing from the truck, he told me that the trucks have not been maintained for a long time. The hotel workers ended up cleaning the floor of the basement after they had left. For hotel staff, it is a health hazard to clear the garbage juice each time garbage is collected.
