Communications and Multimedia Minister Saifuddin Abdullah said action had been taken over an incident where a host on Bernama TV called Al Jazeera "Al Jahiliyah" (the ignorant) and told the Qatar-based international broadcaster to "shut up". "We may disagree with the report of a news channel but we cannot call them with such a name. "I have been informed by the Bernama chairperson that action has been taken," Saifuddin (above) said in a Twitter post. The incident came amid an Al Jazeera report about the alleged mistreatment of migrants in the country during the Covid-19 pandemic, which has angered the government.
