IPOH: M. Sugu, who is part of YouTube cooking sensation Sugu Pavithra and the husband of S. Pavithra, has been charged with being in possession of a sickle while at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here. Sugu, 29, pleaded not guilty when the charges, under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act, were read before Sessions Court judge Mohd Fauzi Mohd Nasir here on Friday (July 24). He is said to have committed the offence at a parking lot in the hospital premises on Tuesday (July 21) at about 6pm. Requesting a lower bail, Sugu’s lawyer, Mahinderjit Singh, said Pavithra had retracted her police report on Wednesday (July 22). He also said it was a misunderstanding between the couple and they had two children, aged two and eight. “The wife can only afford to pay a bail of between RM5,000 and RM10,000, ” he said.
