Dr Mahathir Mohamad has distanced himself from lawyer Haniff Khatri Abdulla's role in the legal action to set aside the royal pardon granted to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim in 2018. In a media statement this afternoon, his office said while Haniff has represented Mahathir in various cases since 2015, he is not the former premier's personal lawyer. “Haniff's involvement in other cases (not related to Mahathir) is based on his own decisions, including the action to set aside Anwar's royal pardon. “This case and Haniff's decision (to represent the plaintiff) have nothing to do with Mahathir,” it added.
