KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 ― Speculation is rife that the ruling Perikatan Nasional coalition may call for snap polls anytime between the end of this year or early 2021. However, health and safety concerns remain dominant factors in determining the voter turnout if the 15th general election (GE15) is held during the Covid-19 pandemic. Election Commission (EC) deputy chairman Azmi Sharom said they have been on alert for a possible snap election since March following the sudden fall of Pakatan Harapan government after former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad resigned.
