Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak was among those who benefited from an alleged conspiracy involving transfers of billions of ringgit linked to 1MDB, the Kuala Lumpur High Court heard today. 1MDB’s former CEO Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi testified that Najib, alongside wanted businessperson Low Taek Jho or Jho Low and several others had benefited from the monetary transfers that formed the crux of the 25 charges against the former premier. Najib is on trial over four counts of abuse of power and 21 counts of money laundering involving RM2.28 billion of funds from sovereign wealth fund 1MDB.
