The Ipoh High Court has fixed nine days commencing from March 30 next year for the trial of former state executive councillor Paul Yong Choo Kiong who is charged with raping his maid.Judge Hashim Hamzah set March 30 to April 2 and April 5 to 9 for the trial during a case management hearing yesterday.In the upcoming trial, the prosecution is expected to call 20 witnesses while the defence team is set to bring forth three witnesses.The dates were set following a three-person Federal Court bench allowing the Tronoh assemblyperson’s appeal for the rape case to be transferred from the Ipoh Sessions Court to the Ipoh High Court, on Dec 15.The unanimous ruling was delivered by Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat.
