The plight of a family of five, who was forced to sleep at a highway rest and service (R&R) area after being evicted from their rented property, has garnered the attention of philanthropist Kuan Chee Heng.Kuan, better known as “Uncle Kentang”, said he was contacted by a police patrol from the Brickfields District police headquarters after authorities received a report on the matter on Dec 8.It is understood that a man, identified only as Chong, had brought his wife and children to spend the night at the Shah Alam Expressway’s Awan Besar R&R area and lived there for five days before Kuan arrived to offer help.According to Kuan, the couple has three children comprising two boys aged two and four years old, and a five-year-old daughter."Police contacted me on the night of the incident, and I am moved that they were willing to wait for me for 40 minutes," he told…
