KUALA LUMPUR, July 19, 2023: The government has set up a special unit to ensure that 3R (race, religion, and royalty) issues will not be played up during the upcoming state elections and the Kuala Terengganu by-election.Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the unit consist his ministry, the police, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission as well as social media platform companies.He said the unit will prevent “the seeds of division from being sowed” and no party takes the opportunity to gain political support by playing up such sensitive issues.“We have freedom of speech, but we do not have the freedom to slander and pit people against each other using 3R,” said Fahmi to the media after attending the national level Maal Hijrah celebration at the World Trade Centre here, today.Fahmi stressed that the laws must be enforced to protect public safety…
