Perak local councillors are being dismissed from their positions effective April 30, according to a letter from the state secretariate's office. "It is informed that the Perak state executive council meeting No 1987 has decided that the appointment of all local councillors in Perak from Oct 1, 2019 to July 31, 2021 will have their services terminated effective on April 30, 2020. "This decision needs to be acted upon immediately," the letter read. The letter gave no further explanation on the dismissal. It carried the letterhead of the state secretariat and was addressed to the Ipoh mayor, and heads of municipal and district councils in the state.
