In general, crime rates in Kuala Lumpur dropped during the MCO period.KUALA LUMPUR: The home ministry today said the crime rate had dropped during the movement control order (MCO) period excluding the incidence of online scams. Deputy Home Minister Ismail Mohamed Said said 2,225 cases were reported from Jan 1 to March 17. From March 18 to May 3, this dropped to 546 cases. He said 708 cases were recorded during the conditional MCO from May 4 to June 9 and 488 from June 10 to June 30. He was responding to Fong Kui Lun (PH-Bukit Bintang) who asked for the crime rate index here before, during and after the MCO. Fong also asked what action had been taken to curb crime in the city. To this, Ismail said the ministry would strengthen its force and use drones to nab offenders.
