It took about 15 years for the Americans to lose the war in Vietnam (1960 - 1975). It has taken the Americans 20 years to get kicked out of  Afghanistan (2001 - 2021).About two weeks back the Americans were forced to abandon the Baghram Airbase, the largest American military base in Afghanistan, in a hurry in the middle of the night. The Americans abandoned their posts at 2:30 am in the morning. When local Afghans turned up for work at 7:30 am in the morning they found that the Americans had left without saying goodbyes. Reports vary but they say the Taliban now control 85% of the country, or less or more.
